Somewhere, beyond the sea...

Do you ever get one of those earworms that play in your head regardless of mood or moment?

Yesterday, as we walked the ten miles or so of headland on the western edge of Wales, my mind, for once, was not on bigger things: I was with my family, barely feeling the pace, looking for butterflies in the bright spring sun...

And all the while, Bobby Darren was singing in my auditory cortex:

Somewhere, beyond the sea.
Somewhere, waiting for me.
My lover stands, on golden sands.
Watching the ships, go sailing.

Sometimes, the sea has a weight we cannot bear; sometimes it buoys us up.

Yesterday was not for drowning.

Enough - back to proper blogging next week.

  3. I have always wondered what the sea looks like when it is not summer, when it is not tourist season. Once when I went to visit my son, my lovely daughter-in-law took me to see the ocean. It was in the fall and the beaches were empty, and the sky was leaden gray, and the waves were the same color but in motion and we walked and walked and walked. There were not a lot of people there, but we saw dolphins and they seemed to be following us along the beach. It was such a wonderful afternoon! I discovered that I preferred the beach during the off season.

  4. Isn't it amazing how beaches all across the world can be so very different while at the same time, have so many similarities? And always beautiful.

  5. At least it was an appropriate ear-worm. I had 'There's No Business Like Show Business' banging around for two days a couple of days ago. I'm almost hesitant to mention it in case it starts up again. Goodness knows where that came from. Oscar's little friend is very pretty. Beautiful view across the bay - that point of hill looks almost volcanic.

  6. It looks as beautiful as ever in Wales, Oscar is a sweet looking dog but he can't beat my mad old spaniel, dog breeds are so different....

  9. Don't talk to me about ear worms; we have a family ear worm, one or other of us will hum 'how much is that doggy in the window' and it's in your head all day:-)
