Filed guides are cheap and easily available but less of an obvious 'present' than the encyclopaedic guides I was writing about in this postThe bike shedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05195882998271591934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-876862148358784705.post-82979050719754243962011-11-06T20:40:25.000+00:002011-11-06T20:40:25.000+00:00Do you think these books are suitable for someone ...Do you think these books are suitable for someone with no previous interest in the subjects, but keen to learn? As you say, it is so good when a book can inform as well as entertain since that is a most satisfying combination. We shall, on your recommendation be seeking them out. It would be the Flora Britannica which would have most appeal for us!Jane and Lance Hattatthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16831890261259302647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-876862148358784705.post-71192383895948133912011-11-05T10:02:55.676+00:002011-11-05T10:02:55.676+00:00I borrow the Flora Britannica from the library on ...I borrow the Flora Britannica from the library on a regular basis. Really must get my own copy from Amazon as it weighs a tonne! But I agree, it is an amazing book. I think it gave Richard Mabey a nervous breakdown because he put so much into it. I've not seen the Bugs or Birds editions, but will have to get those too at some point.Doofushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15368086816490113661noreply@blogger.com
